This was the first time I ever used Cinema 4D. The process was difficult, especially trying to get the hang of the software; that being said I am quite pleased with the overall result.

#whatyoudontsee || Depression Campaign for The Blurt Foundation

Animation created based off a poem, which explores feelings and emotions about depression. #whatyoudontsee is a campaign ran by the BLURT Foundation which is an organisation that helps raise awareness and understanding of depression.

I wanted to capture and create an emotive animation which expresses feelings that a person suffering with depression may feel. I hope to enlighten these specific feelings like drowning, and suffering through stylistic cartoon like visuals. A different person speaks out for each verse, they in turn have their own mind and thoughts, which I constructed scenery and visuals specfically for.

keep yourself TOGETHER || Type Animation

This is an animation based on depression.

I created this gritty, dark, emotional animation based off a YouTube video I found online. The content of the video was a girl speaking about her feelings, and how her world was tumbling down. At the very end of the video, she discusses how she will not give up, and continue on living despite the pain she’s in. To me it was a moving video, and also very motivational. Based off of this, I wanted to create something powerful and unique using her voice and her words.

I wanted to create stop motion like animation (the background) with charcoal. And have roots grow on screen, followed by words. The concept of the video is to show a tree growing, from its roots to a beautiful tree. This is of course symbolism of the girl who is speaking. The tree blossoming; is her fighting against depression, and finding a way to live- just like a tree.

The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time || Title sequence

This was my first ever title sequence which im very pleased with. I hope when people watch this, they get an eerie feeling, and possibly more intrigued by the book it self (which is a fabulous book.)  The book discuses autism, and a murder of a dog. I wanted to create a mystery themed title sequence for this book as it is more fitting. The ink droplets and layering of these ink, transitioning and screening the footage allowed it to look more dark and sinister.

I kept the colour scheme plain and simple, hints of blues and the font being yellow; this was because the main character in the book who suffers from autism has a hatred to the colour yellow.

Overall I really did like how this title sequence turned out, the music brings out a dark ambiance and merges everything together well.

Shelter || Music Video directed by me

‘Shelter’ Directed by me. This was a collaboration project, one of which was very fun to do. We knew it was going to be an experimental piece with no full narrative. But it was a chance for us to develop our skills and learn new things.

Directing was a pretty tough job, we filmed in several different locations, and its mostly of our character wandering the streets.  We played around with smoke bombs, and powder paint which was tonnes of fun!

As well as directing, I did animating some rotoscoping, which was something completely new to me- but it brought our music video to life.

Not Enough Time By Tiffany Dufu || Infographic synthetic stop motion

Infographic synthetic stop motion animation was the most challenging. For someone who likes to experiment a lot, this animation was also experimental. Something that I had never done before, but I liked the stylistic look.

Not enough time by Tiffany Dufu is an audio book mostly about how women don’t have enough time during the day.  I had to come up with visuals to represent her words. When I researched this, there were a few made already, however they were pure graphic based. I wanted to create a synthetic stop motion piece done in after effects.  I had to learn how to do it first before animating, and it was very overwhelming. Overall I managed to get the look I wanted, I especially like the use of strong dominant colours and visuals.

S TOWN || Podcast visuals

This has to be my ultimate favourite live actioned based promotional video that I have created.

S Town is a podcast which discusses murders happening in the town, the genre itself is thriller and crime. For this particular podcast, I didn’t want to animate. I wanted to film something that would look visually good and reflect the themes in S Town.I decided to film in a nature park near my house- by Emirates stadium; I felt like there were great scenery to film. I began editing straight away, it was great fun editing because there were so many things I could do.

I attempted to make it look as dark, and creepy as possible, adding effects and different colour variations helped a lot. Once it was done, the end result looked very good- this process has heightened my filming and editing abilities.
